OPERATION FULL BELLIES

sample bag.jpg

Operation Full Bellies, founded in 2009, is designed to help fill the bellies of children who receive free lunch at school, over weekends and on school breaks.

Each bag is packed to provide a child with easy to prepare, kid friendly food and snacks. A typical bag includes:

2 hot/cold cereal packets

1 container of tuna/peanut butter

1 can soup/pasta

1 can chili/beans

1 ramen/mac and cheese

1 can vegetables

2 cups of fruit

1 juice/milk pouch

4 snacks

fresh fruit if available

1 loaf of bread per family

Bags are distributed to the child's school, daycare or home every week. We recognize that receiving supplemental food can be a sensitive issue for many people. The food is packed in non descriptive grocery bags and slipped into their backpacks at school or delivered to their home.

Children are selected by referral from their school, daycare, church or other service agency.

As of Spring 2021 we have 150+ children and seniors enrolled in Operation Full Bellies in the towns of Sultan, Gold Bar, Index, Baring and Skykomish in the Sky Valley.

To feed these 150 children every week we must collect and/or purchase food for nearly 900 meals and over 600 snacks, 3600 meals and 2400 snacks a month or 46,800 meals and 31.200 snacks a year.

The cost of each bag is approximately $10 per child, per week or $520 per year per child.

Full bellies are an essential building block to a child's physical, mental and emotional development. Together we can help to Eradicate Child Hunger.

OPEration team up

Operation Team Up was created from the belief that we are stronger together. Gathering like minded nonprofits with similar and/or complimentary missions is a natural step for us to better serve our clients.

Each partnership within Operation Team Up is individually designed to benefit both our and their clients. Partnerships range from simply providing referrals to sharing of resources to collectively offering wrap around services to our clients.

An example partnership is with CedarWood Int'l:

  • Weekly we move excess resources to where they are most needed.

  • We assist each other by sharing volunteers as needed.

  • We provide mentor-ship to each other.

  • Our Operation Full Bellies program collaborates with their CedarWood Backpack program to reach more children in need of supplemental weekend food.

  • CedarWood participates in our annual Back to School Fair, with Mountain Valley Chapel, by providing 250 children in need with new socks and underwear.

By working together we can benefit from each other's strengths, knowledge, experience and resources.

OPERATION SANTA

IMG_0600.jpg

Operation Santa, formerly known as Santa’s Boutique, will be celebrating it’s 12th year in 2022.

Operation Santa provides free gifts to children in need between birth-18 years old. Year round we collect donated toys from generous donor stores.

For one wintry day a year in December we come to a town with special needs to bless the children and families with gifts.

Partnering with other non profits allows us to often include clothing, shoes, food and personal hygiene items to the families as well.

Where will we go in 2022? We go where we feel the greatest need is that we can meet. Stay tuned…

Get Involved:

  • Donate new toys, books, clothing, shoes and personal hygiene items.

  • Donate a turkey, ham or roast to a family in need.

  • Recruit your family, friends, co-workers, church or group to sponsor a Toy Drive.

  • Join us to pack and deliver gifts in December. Contact us to join our Volunteer List.
